Jen Trute creates detailed oil paintings on linen and canvas using traditional techniques with multiple layers of glazing, scumbling and transparent optics. Most pieces take several months to complete, and have a depth and luminosity reminiscent of old master paintings.

She has been producing mainly environmental paintings since 1998.

She also hosts the website environmentalart.org which lists various artists and organizations that explore the relationship between the visual arts and the environment, or use visual art to promote environmental projects.
